Elite Athletes

We allow the exception to become the new rule.

What we do with athletes is the same thing we do with US Special Operations.

We identify the most extreme and unique performers in the world: the people who have mastered a skill or ability to levels that seem superhuman to most of us; they just seem to move faster or think faster or create more dynamically than the rest of us do. And we go in there and we learn what they're doing and we slow down those processes and then we distribute them to everyone else.

What that means is that we allow the exception to become the new rule.

The problem with logic-based thinking is that it eliminates exceptions and makes everything the norm. What we do is the opposite. We say, what’s exceptional and how do we lift everyone up to that exceptional level of ability. And so, what we learn from Olympic athletes and Pulitzer winning novelists isn't necessarily going to make you into an Olympic athlete or a Pulitzer winning novelist but it's going to maximize the ability you have in yourself to get there.

It’s more effective than drinking a gatorade.
